Mediation

"What my experience has taught me is that regardless of how complicated the problems might appear, it is possible to work through them and find solutions that are mutually satisfactory to every stakeholder in the problem… most of our problems on this earth are created by us and therefore we have the capacity and the obligation to unmake them."
- Hizkias Assefa

Welcome to Kid Advocate Mediation

My hope is you have reached this website because you are trying to create a safe environment for your child and your goal is to mitigate any contentious behavior that may affect your child’s life. Mediation is a great step in the right direction to provide a safe environment for your child.
To help support this process I offer two types of mediation.

  • Parent to Parent mediation
  • Child to Parent mediation

My Parent to Parent goal is to create a process where guardians can move past any conflicts or stalemates and create solutions to support the wellbeing of their child. If you are having conflict around a child custody agreement or you are just trying to make day to day decisions, I am here to help you unlock the potential of collaboration. My hope is to inspire you to move away from a disempowering court system full of egos and competition and instead move towards resolving conflict through a child centered process where all parties are considered and valued.

My Child to Parent process is designed to support teenage children in their development as autonomous agents in a family and communal structure no matter how good or turbulent the setting is. My goal is to create a safe space for the child to find their voice with their parents. Due to the fragmentation of broken homes and displaced families, the collective support of family elders and communal leaders may not be as available. At Kid Advocate I want to help teenagers express their voice in a productive and respectful way as they gain agency with the authority figures in their life.
