Transitions

“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven.”
- Ecclesiastes or if you prefer, a song by The Birds

Life is such an incredible gift full of birth, death, and renewal. In our western culture we are a beautiful conglomeration of nationalities, beliefs, and different ways of being. The passing of time unites us all and with each passing season we find ourselves discovering who we are and what is our purpose. Kid Advocate Transitions honor these processes of discovery.

What is Initiation or a Rite of Passage?

As Homo Sapiens we have the gift of consciousness and a biology that brings us into imagining a greater purpose than just the survival of the individual. We slowly began to realize through hormonal shifts that we need people, nature, connection, and that we are agents who can birth life. Depending on environments, the need for others can be wrought with loss, abuse, arrested development, poor attachments styles, and co-dependencies. This pattern of dysphoria can be traced to a lack of acknowledging our human biology and our cultural choice to outsource child development to schools, the state, and social media.

A Puberty Initiation is marked as an acknowledgement of the transition that is occurring  naturally. These rituals bring a child into an understanding of what is happening with their body and of its natural place with self and with society. Through honoring the transformation happening in their body and their relation to the world, a clarity can evolve around their own sovereignty and around being an effective agent in culture and community.

At Kid Advocate I want to support parents and children in celebrating the reality of transition into adulthood and help provide purpose and meaning to one’s life.
